On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, OspreyRenewables and GemcorpCapital hosted the inaugural Private Markets Forum in Nairobi. The session was led by Pranav Khamar, Eihorere Wesigye, and Willy Ireri, bringing pension funds, allocators and advisors to discuss the evolving role of private capital in Africa’s growth story.

We were honoured to be joined by Frank Mwiti, CEO of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), as guest speaker who offered the following opening remarks:

• Domestic capital will matter more than ever as countries look to anchor strategic investment and build greater economic resilience.
• Private capital has a critical role to play in structuring, de-risking, and scaling investment, particularly in infrastructure and other priority sectors.
• Deeper, more innovative capital markets, supported by enabling policy and regulation, will be essential to unlocking long-term growth.

Following this, we had an engaging discussion where we explored the following key themes:

• how tailored private capital solutions can unlock infrastructure investment in defensive and growth sectors across emerging markets.
• disciplined origination, thoughtful deal structuring, and proactive asset management are measures that not only preserve but enhance yields.
• private credit as a differentiated funding solution that provides diversification alongside attractive yields.
